Criteria Definitions
  • Editor Title
The Editor Title criterion is used to select the type of editor/reporter you want to reach at the media outlet. Editor Title is a selection under each media type, however the titles listed are unique to each media type.

One Editor Title may be selected for each list you build. If you want more that one Editor Title, select the option to build another list when you reach the “Review Your Media List Selections” page.

  • Magazine Category
The Magazine Category criterion is available under the Magazines and Newsletters selection. It allows you to choose magazines based on their editorial focus. Every magazine in Cision’s database is grouped into a Magazine Category. Each Magazine Category is then further divided into sub-categories to allow you to better target your list.

In the selection box, the Magazine Categories are listed alphabetically. The sub-categories are listed beneath each Magazine Category. The number in parenthesis represents the approximate number of magazines included in that Magazine Category or sub-category. By selecting a Magazine Category, you are automatically selecting all of its sub-categories. Therefore, the number in parenthesis next to the Magazine Category represents the sum of the number of magazines in each of its sub-categories.

To select multiple Magazine Categories or sub-categories, hold down the Ctrl key (PC) or the Option key (Mac) and click on each category that you want to include.

  • Radio Station Format
The Radio Station Format criterion is available under the Radio Stations selection. It allows you to select radio stations based on the station’s format, such as News, Talk, or Top 40.

In the selection box, the Radio Station Formats are listed alphabetically. The number in parenthesis represents the approximate number of stations in the U.S. that have the specified format. Please Note: Because you will be selecting additional criteria to better target your list, this number does not represent the number of stations that will be included in your list.

To select multiple formats, hold down the Ctrl key (PC) or the Option key (Mac) and click on each format that you want to include.

  • Circulation
The Circulation criterion is available under the Daily Newspapers and the Community Newspapers selections. It allows you to build a list based on the circulation of the newspaper.

There are four sets of circulation levels from which to choose: 10,000 and over; 25,000 and over; 50,000 and over; and 100,000 and over. The number in parenthesis represents the approximate number of newspapers that fall within that circulation level.

  • States
